Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) defined as aviation fuels derived from renewable resources or wastes that have obtained both safety and sustainability certifications. With the full life cycle emission reduction up to 80% or more, SAF has emerged as a pragmatic energy solution to deep decarbonization of the aviation industry by the mid of 21st century. Given its pivotal role in the industry’s low-carbon transition, SAF has garnered widespread attention from governments and the global aviation sector alike.
Nevertheless, the large-scale promotion and application of SA faces prominent constraints across three core dimensions: safety, sustainability, and economics. To address these challenges and advance industry collaboration, the ICGA 2025-SAF Forum has been organized. It will focus on SAF policy, feedstock, process, safety certification, sustainability certification, price & market and supply chain. Experts and scholars from domestic and foreign enterprises, R&D institutions, universities and government agencies will be invited to share their latest research progress and insights of the industry. The forum aims to promote the exchange of information, accelerate SAF industry chain integration, facilitate R&D progress, expedite validation and application of SAF.08:50-09:00(GMT+8)

Academic degrees: 2013 Habilitation in the field of Technical Sciences, 2004 PhD in the field of Technical Sciences, 1995 MSc in the field of Civil Engineering. Academic ranks: Warsaw University of Technology, 2017 – present Associate professor, 2014 – 2017 Assistant professor, 1995 – 2004 Teaching assistant. Research interests and achievements: My research focuses on the mathematical and computational modeling of multi-component composite materials. I am particularly interested in optimizing the microscopic layout of components to produce composites with desirable physical properties, such as mechanical strength, heat transfer, and electrical conductivity. I also investigate the bounds on such properties, i.e., the range of improvement achievable by adjusting the microstructural pattern of a composite. Mathematically, my research deals with nonconvex variational problems. From a variety of applicable solution techniques, I mainly use the “translation method”, also known as the “compensated compactness method.” This powerful approach was independently put forward in the 1980s by several mathematicians, including Professor Andrej Cherkaev (Department of Mathematics, University of Utah), with whom I have been collaborating since 2009. Using the translation method, I identified the microstructures corresponding to the bounds on the bending stiffness moduli of a two-component plate (Dzierżanowski, 2010). Together with A. Cherkaev, I addressed the problem of optimizing the microstructure of a composite made from three components, one of which was extremely weak (Cherkaev and Dzierżanowski, 2013). In both cases, solutions have been presented in a mathematically explicit form. In joint work with N. Briggs and A. Cherkaev, I wrote a computer code for optimal design of structures (Briggs, Cherkaev, and Dzierżanowski, 2015). My long-term research interests include the study of optimal microstructure problems for composites composed of more than three components. |

Her doctoral thesis, entitled “Mechanical Behavior of Insert on Sandwich Structures”, examined the mechanical performance and load-transfer mechanisms of inserts in sandwich structures. This work developed her expertise in composite structures, structural integrity, and damage tolerance, all of which are central to aerospace applications. After completing her doctoral studies, she returned to Kasetsart University and continued her work in teaching, research, and academic service. Her areas of specialization include aircraft structural design, solid mechanics, composite-material design, sandwich structures, and natural-fiber composites. Her recent work includes participation in the Naval Aircraft Experimental (NAX) amphibious aircraft project for the Royal Thai Navy, where she applies aircraft structural-design principles and engineering analysis to experimental aircraft development. She also conducts research on sustainable composites reinforced with pineapple leaf fibers and coconut coir fibers. This research evaluates the mechanical properties and engineering potential of locally available natural fibers, supporting the development of environmentally responsible materials. In addition, she has contributed to the development of a small hand-launched unmanned aerial vehicle for multipurpose applications. Dr. Zaib Ali is Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (SMME), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad. He obtained his PhD in Computational Fluid Dynamics from the University of Cambridge, where he specialized in advanced mesh generation and high-fidelity simulation of complex aerodynamic flows. His research focuses on fluid–structure interaction (FSI), vortex dynamics, energy harvesting from flow-induced vibrations, and data-driven reduced-order modeling. He has published extensively on flag-based piezoelectric energy harvesters, wake interactions behind bluff bodies, and computational methods for resolving nonlinear coupled flow phenomena. Building on this foundation, his recent work develops deep learning frameworks—particularly encoder–decoder architectures with hybrid physics-informed loss functions—to reconstruct high-resolution spatiotemporal wake fields from limited data. These surrogate models accurately recover transient vortex shedding and structural signatures at a fraction of the cost of full-order FSI simulations, enabling efficient real-time aeroelastic and hydrodynamic monitoring. As Principal Investigator of the HEC NRPU project on smart spraying systems for agricultural drones, Dr. Ali has further advanced the integration of artificial intelligence, IoT, remote sensing, and CFD for intelligent unmanned aerial systems. His contributions span high-fidelity Lattice Boltzmann simulations of multi-rotor downwash, AI-generated prescription maps, and dynamic variable-rate control—demonstrating practical pathways for digitalization and intelligence in aerial platforms. At the 4th International Conference on Green Aviation, Dr. Ali will present “Deep Learning-Based Wake Reconstruction for Vortex-Induced Vibrations in a Flexible Flag System.” The work illustrates how convolutional encoder–decoder networks, trained on high-resolution vorticity fields across varying gap spacings, serve as efficient surrogates for nonlinear FSI problems. This research directly supports the conference themes of aviation digitalization and intelligence by offering scalable, real-time tools for aeroelastic analysis and monitoring in next-generation green aviation systems. |

|
| Bio: |
Dr. Yamin did his PhD from Beihang university in 2014 where he worked on the flow topology and control of juncture flows. Later he joined Harbin Institute of Technology as Postdoc fellow. His main research interest lies with experimental fluid mechanics and flow separation control using passive control methods. He used vortex generators to lower the adverse pressure gradient in the juncture region and weakened the horseshoe vortex. He also computationally investigated the shape modifications to delay the separation around cornered bluff bodies. All this work is linked with the cooling of electronic devices on electronic circuit boards and micro pin fin design for micro heat exchangers. The aim of this research is to use various simple yet novel shape modifications to improve the heat transfer ability of electronic devices used in EVs and EVTOLs etc. with reduced structural impact. Dr. Yamin also conducted work related to non-parallel cylinders during his postdoc from 2014-2017 in HIT Shenzhen. He studied the problem of landing gear and AWACS plane mountings where two struts are connected at inclination to each other. The 3-D flow behaviour was experimentally observed and new flow physics was explored. This work was also linked with the flow around the deep-sea oil drilling risers. With diverse experience of using both experimental and computational methods to study various problems related to aerodynamics, fluid mechanics and energy harvesting, Dr. Yamin can work on any relevant problem both experimentally and computationally. |
